Dear Friend,

A benefit is being planned for Michael Scriven.  Mike is an 18-year-old high school student who was diagnosed in September 2007 with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) and Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL).  Mike is currently undergoing rigorous testing, including bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, frequent blood draws, platelets and blood transfusion along with intensive chemotherapy.  A stem cell transplantation using his brother's donated marrow is planned for early 2008.  Mike will be graduating from Guerin High School with his friends in May 2008 and plans on attending college.

A benefit has been planned at the Irish-American Heritage Center, 4626 North Knox Avenue in Chicago, on Saturday, June 21, 2008, from 4pm until 11pm.  The donations raised from this benefit will help defray Mike's current and long term medical expenses.  Donations are voluntary at the door.  Food, music and entertainment will be provided, as well as a Grand Raffle and Silent Auction.  There will be a cash bar.

We are looking for donations to make the Silent Auction a huge success.  Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.  Things that have worked well in previous Silent Auctions include:

·         Airline miles, hotel accommodations, summer homes, time shares

·         A carpenter, electrician, cook, etc. (donation of a day’s work)

·         Sports memorabilia

·         Works of art, knitted items, stitch work

·         Irish items (i.e., Irish linen or lace, Waterford crystal, Belleek, etc.)

·         Spa Packages

·         Gift baskets, gift certificates, gift cards

·         An item to showcase your company’s product

·         Items to fill baskets (wine, bath or food products, anything)
